In addition, Hillcrest regularly has one-time opportunities, such as a landscaping project, a specific maintenance or repair that needs done, or a special party or activity that needs hosted for our residents and/or their children. Run a Drive
Hillcrest is always in need of donations from our community. Find the right opportunity for you:
- Pack Our Pantry: Perishable and non-perishable food items are always in need. Hillcrest also accepts hygiene and cleaning items. Download our list of client needs here.
- Thrift Store Donations: Turn your new or gently used items into vital resources that benefit our families and graduates! Donations of clothing, shoes, housewares, furniture, jewelry, accessories, toys, books, and seasonal items can be dropped of at our Lenexa or Lee’s Summit thrift stores.
- Adopt a Family at Christmas: During the holiday season, our community rallies around our residents to provide gifts and holiday meals. Click here for more information about our Christmas adoption program.
- Stack the Deck: Donate gift cards to any of our campuses! Our caseworkers use gift cards to big box stores, gas stations, restaurants, and more as incentives, rewards, and encouragement for our clients.

Sponsor a Hillcrest Apartment
Make a one year commitment to support the work of Hillcrest by sponsoring an apartment unit. This commitment of both time and financial investment is one of the most meaningful ways you can support Hillcrest residents. This is a great ministry opportunity for faith communities, as well as a wonderful community relations project for local businesses and organizations. How it works:
Make the Commitment: When you commit to sponsor an apartment, your annual financial investment of $5,000 will offset the cost of offering and maintaining a Hillcrest apartment for a year, as well as provide 4-6 residents/families access to case management.
Prepare a Place: Prepare a Hillcrest apartment for our newest resident to move into by making repairs and decorating/furnishing as needed.
Provide Initial Food Needs: Stock the apartment with the first week of groceries, and provide the new family with a welcome meal.
Celebrate Progress: Celebrate the resident/family's birthdays, and host the graduation party when they successfully complete the program.
Provide for the Community: Provide four hot meals for our Hillcrest resident community during the year. For example, provide a meal for a holiday or for a weekly life skills class.
Table Sponsor: Sponsor a table at Hillcrest's annual gala and invite friends to join you!
